With years of experience and hundreds of ceilidhs under our belts we’ve more or less seen it all! Whether playing for a wedding, festival, corporate event or private party we will create a lively and unforgettable experience for you and your guests. Our experienced caller is on hand at all times to run the show and make sure that everyone knows the dances and joins in on the fun.

Dance Floor

Ceilidhs

Our 4-piece lineup delivers an upbeat, modern sound guaranteed to fill the dance floor all night long. Each member of the band is an expert in their field bringing a wealth of professional experience to the stage. This genre is our specialism so you can absolutely rest assured that you are in safe hands for an unforgettable ceilidh. 

 

Our caller is on hand at all times to run the show and make sure that everyone knows the dances and joins in on the fun. Throughout the night we like to cram in as many dances as possible, with a variety of old and new, fast and slightly less fast, and of course ending with the ever popular Orcadian Strip the Willow. 

Wedding DJ

Disco DJ

Many of our clients opt to break up the evening’s ceilidh with a playlist of disco tunes to keep the dancing varied and celebrate their favourite tracks. We find that this works really well and are happy to provide this service whether you have a specially selected list of favourites, some advance suggestions from your guests or just a few genre pointers for us.

We come equipped with a seriously capable PA and lighting system, so whatever vibe you have in mind, we’ve got you covered!

Bagpiper

Our bagpiper is available to hire for any duties throughout your special event. Most often called on for weddings, we can provide this service for your guests arriving, piping down the aisle, playing after your ceremony and piping into the top table.

Wedding Ceremony

Instrumental Background Music

We have provided music for many wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions and dinners, always working closely with clients to find the perfect set-up for their needs. We are used to coordinating with wedding and events planners in order to ensure that everything is meticulously planned well in advance of your big day. 

 

We most commonly provide a 2-piece combination of fiddle and guitar for such occasions but can also offer a solo piano player.

Nightjar Ceilidh Band’s partner vocalist has over 15 years professional performance experience and is available to hire for your event. Along with live piano accompaniment, she can provide singing in a range of styles for anything from background music, wedding ceremonies, Burns suppers and more.

FAQs

What do you charge?

 

Our prices are competitive and reflective of the high quality of our services. The exact amount we charge is dependant on a number of variables such as venue, timings and services required. If you would like a quote for our services please use our contact form and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

We will arrive 1 hour 15 minutes before your start time. This ensures that we have plenty of time to set up and sound check the band before kicking things off.

 

Our typical schedule for an evening ceilidh is:

​

- 8pm start with ceilidh until 9:30pm

- 30 minute break with background music playing

- Music resuming at 10pm with disco (if chosen) for an hour

- Finishing with another hour of ceilidh with a 12:00 midnight finish. 

​

The above is just a guide and we are of course happy to be flexible to meet your specific needs.

What is your typical schedule and when will you arrive?

What services do you offer aside from ceilidh?

 

As well as ceilidh we can provide you with disco/DJ​, instrumental and vocal background music and bagpiper. In some cases it may be possible provide a PA system for wedding speeches as part of your package. More details of our services can be found here.

Some of our guests have never been to a ceilidh before. Will you tell them what to do?

 

Absolutely! We have a lot of experience working with inexperienced and foreign audiences and always give full, clear instructions before every dance to make sure that the ceilidh is as inclusive as possible.

How far are you willing to travel?

 

We are experienced in and willing to travel globally so do not hesitate to get in touch whatever your physical location.

How does the booking process work?

 

To enquire about booking us and receiving a quote for our services please use the contact form on our website. If you wish to go ahead we will require a 20% deposit to confirm the booking, with the remaining 80% payable one month prior to your event. 

​

Do you have public liability insurance?

 

Yes. We have public liability insurance cover and can provide proof of this if required by your venue or event organisers.​
